AFP-NH Applauds Gov. Ayotte for Vetoing Hidden Paint Tax

Concord, NH – Today, Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) released the following statement applauding Governor Ayotte’s veto of House Bill 451, legislation that would have imposed a mandatory tax on paint purchases and would have required paint manufacturers to establish and finance a program to collect unused paint.

Sarah Scott, AFP-NH Deputy State Director, released the following statement:

“Today, Governor Ayotte protected Granite Staters from a hidden tax at the register. HB 451 would have caused businesses and consumers to pay more under the guise of stewardship.

“This bill would have shifted costs onto hardworking residents and expanded government mandates, both of which go against New Hampshire’s Live Free or Die values and our long-standing commitment to limited government and individual responsibility.

“AFP-NH thanks Governor Ayotte for her leadership and for standing up for taxpayers and ensuring the Granite State remains a place where businesses can operate without unnecessary, burdensome regulations.”
