AFP-Nevada Statement on Priority Legislation Progress on Deadline Day

Apr 23, 2025 by AFP

CARSON CITY, NV – Tuesday marked the Legislature’s deadline day, a milestone day on which all non-exempt bills must be voted out of their respective chambers to continue with the legislative process.

Four AFP-supported bills, AB 197, SB 124, SB 295, and SB 336, have passed this procedural hurdle.

  • AB 197 — Strengthens First Amendment protections for Nevada donors.
  • SB 124 — Addresses Nevada’s physician shortage by streamlining state medical licensure requirements for international medical graduates, allowing them to practice and use their skills to serve our communities.
  • SB 295 — Removes state and local burdens on street food vendors and entrepreneurs across Nevada.
  • SB 336 — Allows independent workers to set up portable benefit accounts without changing their employment status.

AFP-Nevada State Director Ronnie Najarro issued the following statement:

“Each of these bills reduces government overreach in the lives of everyday Nevadans and expands opportunity in our communities. From removing licensing requirements on food vendors and entrepreneurs to encouraging more doctors to serve our communities, these bills will have a direct and lasting benefit on the Battle Born State. Advancing these reforms is critical in ensuring all Nevadans are empowered to seek those opportunities that will unlock the American Dream for themselves and their families; this is what our Battle Born Blueprint Legislative agenda is all about.

“As lawmakers look to prioritize legislation for the remainder of the session, AFP encourages them to advance AB 197, SB 124, SB 295, and SB 336.”
