Universal School Choice, Tax Reforms from General Assembly will keep North Carolina Growing and Thriving
Raleigh, North Carolina—Today the North Carolina General Assembly passed a new state budget that expands educational opportunity for North State Students and reduces the personal income tax for hard-working taxpayers.
Americans for Prosperity-North Carolina State Director Tyler Voigt praised the budget as transformational for North Carolinians:
“Today the General Assembly voted for transformational reforms that will expand opportunity and prosperity for every single North Carolinian.
“A budget, at its heart, is a statement of priorities and we are pleased to see the General Assembly prioritizing students by breaking down the barriers to educational opportunity with universal opportunity scholarships and prioritizing taxpayers by letting hard-working North Carolinians keep more of their paychecks by forging a pathway to lower the personal income tax down to 2.49 percent. We are proud that North Carolina is the first state to pass universal school choice program with a Democratic governor.
“North Carolina is already one of the fastest growing states in the southeast, and with these bold reforms, it’s sure to stay on this trailblazing trajectory.”
