AFP-Montana Releases 2025 Legislative Scorecard

Jan 14, 2026 by AFP

HELENA, MT — Americans for Prosperity-Montana (AFP-MT) today released its 2025 legislative scorecard, holding members of the State Legislature accountable for how they voted on the most important policy issues facing the state.

The scorecard is a resource for activists, media, and Montanans across the state to learn how each senator and representative voted and to hold them to account for their decisions. The scorecard includes legislative votes on HB2 (state budget), HB231 (property taxes), two judicial reform bills, reauthorizing Medicaid expansion, capping Medicaid expansion enrollees and expanding education choice.

The scorecard grades the 150 members of the Montana State House and Senate on a scale of 0 to 100. More than 30 lawmakers achieved a score of 90 or higher for their legislative votes, standing against bad public policy while proposing and supporting solutions that create more opportunities for all Montanans.

One lawmaker, Representative Lee Deming of Laurel, received a perfect score of 100 for voting against tax increases and advocating for school choice in Big Sky Country.

AFP-MT State Director Jesse Ramos released the following statement:

“AFP’s scorecard acts as a reminder to lawmakers — we’re watching and intend to hold lawmakers accountable for supporting bad policy or celebrate champions for supporting solutions to increase opportunity for Montanans.

“These hard-earned victories of the 2025 legislative session are the result of a relentless under-the-dome effort supported by countless activists, community leaders, and organizations that work with lawmakers to get the government out of the way of Montanans.”

AFP-MT Deputy State Director Henry Kriegel issued the following statement:

“The scorecard rewards those who voted with AFP on important issues facing our state, including ROFR and housing reform. It holds those accountable who voted against education freedom and voted for the largest budget in Montana’s history.

“AFP is dedicated to supporting policy champions for everyday Montanans, and we won’t stand by idly if members voted against the interests of Big Sky Country.”
