AFP Marks National Small Business Week by Highlighting Small Biz Benefits of TCJA

May 5, 2025 by AFP

ARLINGTON, VA— In celebration of National Small Business Week, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is highlighting the transformative impact the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) has had on small businesses across the country—and why renewing it is essential to sustaining that growth. This week, AFP will be sharing real stories of entrepreneurs who, thanks to the TCJA, were able to invest in their dreams, grow their teams, and build stronger communities.

Since the TCJA was enacted in 2017, small business owners have reported increased confidence, new hires, expanded operations, and the freedom to innovate. Now, with key provisions of the law set to expire, AFP is amplifying the voices of job creators who have benefited directly from the reforms — and who now face uncertainty as they look to the future.

“The TCJA gave entrepreneurs the certainty they needed to take risks, build their businesses, and strengthen their communities,” said Brent Gardner, AFP Chief Government Affairs Officer. “Letting these pro-growth policies expire would threaten the progress we’ve made and the livelihoods of millions of Americans. The Trump tax cuts meant more jobs, more investment, and higher wages for millions of people – that’s good for small businesses and great for America.”

A Small Sample of What AFP is Hearing from Business Owners:

“Trump Tax Cuts have strengthened my business and have helped my employees provide for their families.” – Dave, business owner from Marietta, GA.

“TCJA has been a fantastic benefit to our small business primarily because it allowed us to extend additional healthcare benefits to our employees and support local charities that we love so much. And it protected prosperity.” – John, business owner from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

“I’ve been a business owner my entire professional life. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 was a real opportunity that allowed me to grow and expand my business.” – Rafael, business owner from Las Vegas, NV.

“I’m a second-generation grocer. In 2017, the Trump administration passed a tax package that was super beneficial to our business, it allowed us to open the store I’m standing in today.” – Doug, business owner from Pennsylvania.

“The TCJA’s depreciation provisions have enabled developers to build more apartment buildings, helping stabilize prices and make quality homes more affordable for families. Without the TCJA, construction would slow significantly, driving prices back up and exacerbating the housing crisis.” – Adam, business owner from Montana.

“TCJA has given me and my company the opportunity to contribute more towards this charitable mission. Just recently we were able to feed over 100,000 people in 121 communities … We need to protect prosperity and renew this act. It helps more than just a business owner like me.” – RF, business owner from South Dakota.
