FORT WAYNE, IN – Volunteers with Americans for Prosperity–Indiana (AFP-IN) have made more than 1,000 direct voter contacts across Northwest Allen County since launching their campaign to educate residents about the proposed $12 million operating referendum. As part of a day of action this weekend, volunteers continued those efforts by engaging their neighbors about how the measure would raise local property taxes by an average of $500 per household.

AFP-IN Grassroots Engagement Director Tyler Turnwald released the following statement:

“Families in Northwest Allen County are already feeling the squeeze from higher costs, and this $12 million property tax hike would make it even harder to make ends meet. Raising taxes is not the answer to improving our schools. Voters deserve to know that there are better, more sustainable solutions that support students without putting additional strain on local families.

“Our grassroots efforts are making sure every voter has the facts about this costly proposal. When Hoosiers are informed, they make choices that strengthen schools without burdening families.”

AFP-IN’s volunteers and community leaders spent the day going door to door, discussing how responsible budgeting and sustainable reforms can support education without burdening taxpayers. View photo below:
