Seattle, WA — Today, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) called on Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell to put politics aside and support a clean continuing resolution to reopen the federal government. With the shutdown dragging on, Washingtonians are feeling the consequences—from stalled infrastructure projects to delayed public services—and they deserve better.
AFP Western Region Director Heather Andrews released the following statement:
“Senator Schumer and Senate Democrats continue to block attempts to reopen the government, insisting on a $1.5 trillion partisan wish list.
“We deserve leaders who put responsible governance ahead of party politics. Sens. Murray and Cantwell have had countless opportunities to demonstrate this leadership, but they are too easily distracted by partisan games.
“Murray and Cantwell should focus on solutions that keep our government running and protect taxpayers. It’s time to set aside the partisanship and do what’s best for Washington and the nation. That starts with voting for a clean continuing resolution to get the country back on track.”
