WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, President Trump signed the $9 billion rescissions package into law, cutting wasteful government spending and creating momentum to pursue real cost-cutting measures in Congress. A top priority for the White House, this package delivers on the President’s mission of reducing government overreach and federal spending.

AFP Chief Government Affairs Officer Brent Gardner issued the following statement after the package was signed into law:

“The passage of the Rescissions Act of 2025 is a critical first step in instilling fiscal responsibility in Washington. But the work is not done. It’s vital that this moment be met with future rescissions packages to continue President Trump’s mission of streamlining government and eliminating waste and abuse.

“Congress’s swift passage of this package marks an opportunity for lawmakers to identify future areas to reduce government spending and deliver savings for American taxpayers. Congress should prioritize cost-cutting measures that help rein in out-of-control spending and address our growing debt crisis. The American people want and deserve a more efficient and accountable government — Congress must meet the moment to deliver additional rescissions and responsible spending in Washington.”
