AFP Blasts Governor Healey’s State of the Commonwealth Address

Boston, Massachusetts — Today, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) called out Governor Healey’s handling of the state’s energy crisis following her State of the Commonwealth Address, calling on the Governor to provide real solutions for Massachusetts.

AFP Northeast Region Director Ross Connolly said:

“Governor Healey was right about one thing: Massachusetts families and businesses are struggling to make ends meet with soaring energy prices and everyday affordability pressures. Unfortunately, her address tonight failed to mention concrete reforms that would address the state’s growing cost-of-living crisis. Her last-minute effort to reduce energy costs in Massachusetts after consumers saw prices soar in 2025 falls short.

“Massachusetts’s affordability crisis was avoidable. Overregulation and mandates have caused the state to have some of the highest energy costs in the nation, pricing out many hardworking families and businesses. This government-created crisis is a direct result of bad policy decisions by the majority on Beacon Hill and Governor Healey.

“The Governor and lawmakers must move past lofty rhetoric and stopgaps and work towards a disciplined governance that will provide long-term solutions for all of Massachusetts. We urge the Governor and legislature to commit to a responsible budget, regulatory reform, and an all-of-the-above energy strategy, and we stand ready to help deliver results for the people of Massachusetts.”
