Phoenix, AZ — Americans for Prosperity Arizona (AFP-AZ) released the following statement in response to Governor Katie Hobbs’ State of the State Address while outlining its legislative priorities for the 2026–2027 term.
AFP-AZ State Director Stephen Shadegg said:
“Once again, Katie Hobbs offered plenty of talk but no real solutions for the challenges facing Arizonans. From housing affordability to regulatory overreach, Arizonans are not looking for another speech, they are looking for leadership that delivers results and takes responsibility.
“Families are struggling with rising housing costs, a growing regulatory burden, and an economy that too often works for insiders instead of small businesses and working people. Yet time and again, the governor has stood in the way of meaningful reforms. Her administration has repeatedly vetoed commonsense legislation that would increase transparency, improve affordability, and restore accountability.
“Leadership is about solving problems, not blocking solutions. Arizona does not need more rhetoric. It needs a governor who is ready to turn words into action.”
As lawmakers return to the Capitol this week, AFP-AZ is focused on advancing a reform agenda that contrasts sharply with Hobbs’ record of vetoes and obstruction. AFP-AZ’s priorities for the 2026–2027 legislative term include:
