AFP and Jersey 1st Call Out Failed Policies that Led to Higher Taxes and Out of Control Spending in Garden State

Trenton, NJ — This week, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) and Jersey 1st released mailers highlighting a state-wide affordability campaign launched early this year focused on promoting economic freedom and opportunity for Garden State residents.The Pathway to Garden State Prosperity campaign calls on lawmakers to put New Jerseyans first by changing course from failed policies that lead to excessive taxation and unsustainable government spending.

AFP Northeast Regional Director Ross Connolly released the following statement:  

“After years of overregulation and excessive taxation, New Jersey has one of the highest tax burdens in the nation. Hardworking families should not have to continue footing the bill for failed policies and reckless spending. AFP and Jersey 1st continue to advocate for policies that could provide relief for New Jerseyans and set the Garden State up for a more prosperous future.”  

Jersey 1st President and Founder Rosemary Becchi issued the following statement:  

“New Jersey is too expensive. For years, families and businesses have struggled under the weight of financial burdens that stand in the way of their ability to pursue the American Dream. It’s time for our elected representatives to stand up for New Jerseyans and make this state a more affordable place to live, learn, work, and retire.” 

The Garden State Pathway to Prosperity Campaign focuses on the following issues:

  • Broad-based tax reform
  • Unleashing energy abundance
  • Supporting education freedom
  • Reducing burdensome government regulations
