JUNEAU, AK — Today, the Alaska State Legislature wrapped up its 2025 legislative session, marking the close of the first year of the 34th session.
While we appreciate the work and time lawmakers put in and the progress made through some key reforms this session, this session left much to be desired. The legislature failed to advance transformational education options for families and solidify a long-term fiscal plan for the state.
AFP-Alaska Deputy State Director Quincy Azimi-Tabrizi issued the following statement:
“AFP would like to thank Alaska’s lawmakers for their dedication to improving the lives of every Alaskan.
“But there is a lot of work left to be done to address the economic uncertainty facing The Last Frontier.
“Year after year, lawmakers propose massive spending bills, jeopardizing the long-term fiscal stability of the state and its budget. It’s time for lawmakers to do the hard work of creating a long-term fiscal plan to ensure Alaska remains a great place to raise a family or start a business for years to come.”
