AFP-AL Celebrates End of Judicial Deference

Americans for Prosperity Press Release
MONTGOMERY, AL – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Alabama (AFP-AL) celebrates Governor Kay Ivey signing SB167, which ends judicial deference at the state level, into law. The legislation mirrors the 2024 U.S. Supreme Court case Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo which ended judicial deference at the federal level and paved the way for states like Alabama to work towards ending judicial deference in the states.

AFP-AL State Director Adam Thompson released the following statement:

“We are thrilled that Alabama has become the latest state to end the practice of judicial deference. We would like to thank Senator Arthur Orr and Representative Bryan Brinyark for their leadership, as well as the Alabama Policy Institute, the Alabama Forestry Association, the National Federation of Independent Business, and the Pacific Legal Foundation for their work in helping turn this bill into law. With this victory behind us, AFP-AL will continue to identify opportunities to provide checks on the administrative state. Our work is only beginning.”
