ICYMI: AFP-AR Activists Visit Washington, DC, Urging Lawmakers to Pass Trump Tax Cuts

Little Rock, AR – Americans for Prosperity grassroots activists from across the country traveled to Capitol Hill this week as part of Americans for Prosperity’s ongoing Protect Prosperity campaign to advocate for President Trump’s tax cuts.

State Director Ryan Norris traveled to Washington and conducted three meetings to urge Arkansas lawmakers to extend provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), which saves the average Arkansas family $2,220 in federal taxes per year and preserves 6,218 jobs throughout the state. Norris also discussed passing the rescissions package from the White House to eliminate billions in wasteful spending.

AFP-AR State Director Ryan Norris released the following statement:

“We’re encouraged to see the Arkansas congressional delegation standing up for working families by supporting the permanent extension of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Making these tax cuts permanent means more take-home pay, more opportunity, and greater economic freedom for Arkansans. And with H.R. 1 advancing a strong energy agenda—prioritizing domestic production, critical resources, and permitting reform—it’s clear our delegation understands that abundant, affordable energy and pro-growth tax policy are the keys to prosperity. This is the kind of leadership Arkansas needs in Washington.”

Sen. John Boozman released the following statement:

“We need to protect hardworking individuals and businesses from a $4 trillion tax increase. That is the single best way we can promote growth and expand opportunity. Preserving the relief we secured for working and middle-class Americans in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is a top priority because we know how detrimental the alternative would be for their budgets and our economy overall.”

Rep. Bruce Westerman released the following statement:

“We have a responsibility to protect hardworking Arkansas families and small businesses from a $4 trillion tax hike. The best way to promote economic growth and expand opportunity in our state is by preserving the tax relief delivered through the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Letting these provisions expire would hit working- and middle-class Arkansans the hardest—straining family budgets and putting local jobs at risk.”
