| Dear Representative,
On behalf of Americans for Prosperity’s grassroots volunteers and supporters across the nation, we urge you to vote “YES” on HR-6703, the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act. This legislation would make health insurance more affordable, flexible, and portable for millions of working families by codifying CHOICE arrangements, legalizing Association Health Plans, and ending insurers’ inflationary “silver loading” practices. AHPs can reduce premiums by 30 percent. Ending silver-loading will reduce ACA premiums by 11 percent. By comparison, the Democratic leadership plan — send even more billions of our tax dollars to health insurance companies, with no reforms — would not reduce premiums by a penny. Under Democrats’ “Affordable” Care Act, insurance premiums have tripled, deductibles have doubled, access to doctors has shrunk, wait times have reached historic highs, and insurer claim-denial rates have grown tenfold. The average family insurance plan today costs a staggering $27,000 a year and requires $5,000 to $10,000 out of pocket before the insurance kicks in. Is that even insurance? One in five medical claims is denied. Some insurers deny one-third of claims. What good is an insurance card if you can’t access medical care? In a recent AFP poll, 82% of voters said bringing down health care costs should be a top priority for Congress, 83% prefer having more options for personalized care over more government control and subsidies, and 80% prefer that public subsidies go directly to consumers rather than insurers. Republicans’ Working Families Tax Cuts (HR-1) made a great start on reversing Obamacare’s failures by removing barriers to tax-free Health Savings Accounts and Direct Primary Care, giving millions of families direct, hassle-free access to care. The Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act builds on that progress and represents yet another solid step toward giving all Americans a Personal Option: reliable, hassle-free health care you can afford. This vote will be recorded in our legislative scorecard. To see what other votes have been included, please visit AFP’s scorecard online at: AFPscorecard.org. |
