Key Vote Alert: Vote YES on H.R. 23, the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act

Dear Representatives,

On behalf of Americans for Prosperity activists in all 50 states, I urge you to support the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act.

Americans for Prosperity strives to create an economy that works for all – empowering people to earn success and realize their potential. Federal and state tax codes should be fair, flat, simple, transparent, and neutral while preserving the opportunity of individuals to invest in their families, communities, and businesses. Instead of moving us closer to this vision, Congress passed the misnamed “Inflation Reduction Act” in 2022 resulting in increased taxes on Americans, increased corporate taxes on American businesses, and increased government scrutiny on blue collar workers. The one thing the Inflation Reduction Act did not do was reduce inflation.

The upcoming vote on the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act will fulfill the promise made in September by Speaker McCarthy that the number one priority of a Republican House Majority would be rolling back these harmful provisions within the Inflation Reduction Act, including rolling back increased IRS funding for tax enforcement. Specifically, the Family and Small Business Protection Act will repeal roughly $72 billion of the $80 billion in taxpayer funds appropriated to the IRS by the Inflation Reduction Act. This includes:

• Repealing the $45.6 billion for increased enforcement activities.
• Repealing $25.3 billion for IRS operations support, including rent payments, postage, and the purchase of new cars for agents.
• Repealing $15 million for the creation of a direct e-file system, a government-run tax preparation software.

It is important Republicans keep their promises and protect the American people who elected them to serve. Swiftly passing the Family and Small Business Protection Act is the first step in bringing long-needed relief to Americans who have been stretched thin under
President Biden’s harmful policies.

It is for these reasons we respectfully ask you to vote YES on the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act.
