Americans for Prosperity-Mississippi Releases 2024 Legislative Scorecard

Jackson, MS—Today, Americans for Prosperity-Mississippi (AFP-MS) released its 2024 Legislative Scorecard, highlighting state lawmakers’ votes during the past session on key pieces of legislation.

On issues pertaining to health care, education freedom, the economy, and more, AFP-MS’ scorecard serves as an accountability tool for residents across the state to see how their elected officials represented them in office.

AFP-MS State Director, Starla Brown, released the following statement:

“Driving policy change that removes barriers for Mississippians seeking a life of prosperity is our priority. Our scorecard ensures that transparency between Mississippians and their representatives is at the forefront, bringing the voice of our residents to the legislature. We appreciate the work this past session of our legislators and look forward to continued policies that build a better Mississippi in 2025.”

The scorecard focused on the following bills in the 2024 legislative session:

  • HB 848, Which would remove chemical dependency services, facilities and psychiatric residential treatment facilities from Certificate of Need laws.
  • HB 1449, The “Mississippi Student Freedom Act” which would establish Magnolia Scholarship Accounts for certain eligible students.
  • HB 1725, Which would seek federal waiver for plan to allow Medicaid coverage for persons described in the federal Affordable Care Act.
  • HB 4130, The “Mississippi Student Funding Formula” which would provide funding mechanisms for public schools.
