AFP-South Carolina Urges Legislators to Finalize Budget, Avoid Continued Resolution

Jun 18, 2024 by AFP

COLUMBIA, SC—As South Carolina’s Statehouse has limited time to finalize the budget and send it to the Governor’s desk, Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina (AFP-SC) is calling on legislators to act quickly to avoid continuing resolution (CR) funds in which AFP calls ‘budgeting by crisis.’

AFP-SC Director of Public Affairs, Candace Carroll, released the following statement:

“There is no reason that our legislature shouldn’t finalize the budget before the end of the month and AFP-SC is urging Members to act quickly so that both chambers can hold a vote on June 25th. Continuing resolutions are a short-term fix, not a solution that provides a comprehensive budget for the state. The beginning of the 2025 fiscal year is rapidly approaching, and we hope that Members who return to the Statehouse on the 25th will come to an agreement, place votes, and send a budget to the Governor’s desk.”
