AFP-MI Congratulates Endorsed Candidates, Celebrates Flipping Michigan State House
Lansing, Michigan—Tonight, Americans for Prosperity-Michigan (AFP-MI) congratulated its endorsed candidates on winning their races and flipping control of the Michigan State House.
Incumbent State Representatives Jamie Thompson (HD-28), Kathy Schmaltz (HD-46), Donni Steele (HD-54), Mark Tisdel (HD-55), Tom Kuhn (HD-57), Alicia St. Germaine (HD-62), David Martin (HD-68), Gina Johnsen (HD-78), and Cam Cavitt (HD-106) won reelection.
Additionally, several nonincumbent candidates endorsed by AFP-MI won their first races, including Rylee Linting (HD-27), Jennifer Wortz (HD-35), Steve Frisbie (HD-44), Ron Robinson (HD-48), Jason Woolford (HD-50), Tim Kelly (HD-93), and Karl Bohnak (HD-109).
AFP-MI State Director Tim Golding issued the following statements after the races were called:
“AFP-MI is proud to have supported each of these principled candidates, but tonight’s success is about more than just one race. Tonight, we’ve restored a policy majority to the Michigan state house, where these lawmakers are positioned to be a meaningful check against runaway government spending and radical progressive policies that have been driving Michiganders out of the state for years.
“We look forward to working with these lawmakers next session. This success wouldn’t be possible without tireless work from the grassroots who knocked on thousands of doors to get these candidates across the finish line and ensure that their voices will be heard in Lansing.”
