AFP-MI Calls Out Gov. Whitmer’s Plan to Raise Taxes to Address Michigan Roadways
Lansing, Michigan—This week, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced her $3 billion plan to address Michigan’s long-neglected roadways.
Americans for Prosperity-Michigan State Director Tim Golding issued the following statement reacting to her proposal:
“Well into her second term, Governor Whitmer is finally turning her attention to the promises she made during her first campaign. Unfortunately, her plan to “fix the damn roads” hinges on squeezing more revenue out of hard-working Michiganders.
“There is nowhere Gov. Whitmer won’t look to extract more and more tax dollars from job-creators. What’s notable is how much extra spending that’s happened under her watch, without addressing a core campaign promise.
“AFP-MI remains committed to opposing new taxes that would hinder Michigan’s economic growth and further deter much-needed investment in our state.”
