AFP-KS Encourages legislators to adopt Sunflower State Solutions to move Kansas forward
Topeka, KS—As the 2025 legislative session is underway in the Sunflower State, Americans for Prosperity-Kansas (AFP-KS) says that Governor Laura Kelly’s address to legislators and budget proposal would take Kansas in the wrong direction of fiscal irresponsibility.
Instead, the grassroots powerhouse is urging lawmakers in Topeka to adopt its priorities laid out in the Sunflower State Solutions agenda where AFP-KS reflects the concerns of voters they interact with at the doors to bottom-up policies.
AFP-KS State Director, Liz Patton, made the following statement:
“The Kansas House and Senate got to work quickly, and we’re thrilled to partner with countless policy champions as the session unfolds. Yet, the economic opportunity sought by the many people we talk to at the doors across Kansas does not happen under Governor Kelly’s proposed budget of increased spending, special interest projects, and growing government bigger than the private sector.
“Our legislators owe it to hardworking Kansans who have been suffering under soaring inflation to get wasteful spending under control. If we want to be a state that succeeds and is competitive in the region, we need a smart and efficient budget, lower taxes, lower energy regulations, and less red tape. Last year, Governor Kelly did little to usher in a strong economy unless her hand was forced by fiscally sound Kansas lawmakers. We must continue the fight to return money to hardworking Kansans through smart and effective tax relief.”
