TOPEKA, KS—Today, Americans for Prosperity-Kansas (AFP-KS) is expressing deep disappointment in the Senate’s inability to override Governor Laura Kelly’s latest tax veto despite an overwhelming majority of the House voting in support of the measure.

AFP-KS State Director, Elizabeth Patton, issued the following statement:

“It is a disappointing day for Kansans when a desire to increase spending stands in the way of smart tax cuts that give money back to hardworking families. Our state is among the highest taxed in the region and our budget plus rainy day fund give all the more reason to see meaningful tax reform accomplished.

“Governor Kelly and her allies have wanted to keep taxing those who are hurting the most under ‘Bidenomics’ so they can have a pay day instead of provide relief to our state. It’s shameful to witness a roadblock to economic relief for Kansans by upholding the veto of yet another bipartisan, sustainable tax plan.”
