Getting Serious About Inflation Starts with A Serious Energy Policy
Arlington VA – The Biden-Harris administration is making domestic energy production harder by shuttering energy exploration on 28 million acres in Alaska.
Americans for Prosperity Vice President of Government Affairs Akash Chougule issued the following statement:
“By restricting access to these significant resources, the administration is stifling domestic energy production that could reduce our reliance on foreign sources and make our country more energy secure. These are precisely the policies that put American consumers at the mercy of OPEC and Venezuela and why this administration has repeatedly had to dip into our Strategic Petroleum Reserve for non-emergencies.
“The cost of energy touches virtually every product moved or sold in the United States. Getting serious about fighting inflation starts with a serious all-of-the-above energy policy. This move not only eliminates job opportunities in the energy sector, but also exacerbates rising energy costs that burden American families and contribute to even higher costs of living.
“This administration repeatedly tells Americans they want to lower costs for people – but all we’re getting are the same failed policies that sent them skyrocketing. Americans should pay attention and ask their Members of Congress – especially Senators Jon Tester, Sherrod Brown, Jacky Rosen, Tammy Baldwin, and Bob Casey – whether they agree that we should be keeping this land off-limits.”
Americans for Prosperity-Alaska State Director Bethany Marcum issued the following statement:
“The bureaucrats at the Bureau of Land Management must have missed the memo that people still live in Alaska and want to utilize its abundant resources. Alaskans face one of the highest cost-of-living burdens in the country. We depend on the development of the natural resources of our state to pay the bills, put money into the permanent fund, and keep our schools operating, roads functioning, and keep the lights on.
“We are at the forefront of America’s energy potential and should be allowed to determine our future as Alaskans.”
