In Texas, everything is bigger. The trucks, the highways, the steaks — and soon, educational freedom.
That’s because last week, the Texas legislature passed the largest education savings account bill in the country, becoming the 19th state to pass significant educational freedom legislation.
Now, tens of thousands of families will finally be free to choose the best education for their children.
Traditionally, a student’s future was tied to a ZIP code. If your local school didn’t work for you, tough luck. But with this new law, families, not arbitrary lines on a map, will decide how and where their children learn.
And that’s a huge deal.
At Americans for Prosperity, we’re proud to have played a pivotal role in getting this bill through. Our committed army of volunteers worked hard to ensure Texas leads the way in educational freedom.
This bill doesn’t just tweak the system — it transforms it. Here’s what it does:
Now, parents will finally have options to send their children to the school that best suits their needs. Whether that’s a private school, homeschool, online program, or a mix of services, families are in charge now.
This win didn’t come easily. For over a decade, school choice in Texas kept hitting dead ends. Over the last few years, school choice bills have failed six times in the state legislature.
But at AFP, we never gave up.
Our grassroots army fought tooth and nail. We didn’t rest until we achieved our goal. This year, we went all in by:
It took grit, passion, and relentless organizing. And it worked.
This win is a turning point for educational freedom across America.
And the moment couldn’t be more urgent.
Recent data shows that American kids are struggling to catch up to pre-pandemic reading and math scores. We need bold solutions that prepare kids for their future. We need more educational freedom.
Many states in America still don’t have ESA programs, and millions of kids are stuck in schools that don’t meet their needs.
At AFP, we’re working day and night to change this.
We’re taking the momentum from Texas and turning it into a nationwide movement. Every child, no matter their ZIP code, income, or background, deserves a shot at a better future.
In states like Mississippi, Montana, South Carolina, and Virginia, AFP is working hard to push for bills that’ll improve our education system by taking power away from bureaucrats and putting it back where it belongs: with students and families.
Let’s make sure America follows Texas’ lead.
Join the movement. Let’s keep fighting for every student.
