Jefferson City, MO—Americans for Prosperity-Missouri (AFP-MO) has been working hard for years to claw back government overreach in education and give families access to the education that best fits their children. With the Missouri General Assembly set to consider a landmark expansion of freedom in education this session, AFP hopes that Missouri will become the latest state to give all families – regardless of their income or zip code – the opportunity to give their children the best education possible.
If successful, Missouri would become the latest state to have universal school choice, through a tax credit for eligible education expenses. Leading the charge are Senators Andrew Koenig and Rick Brattin, and Representative Doug Richey, who pre-filed bills that will empower parents and lead to better outcomes for our children. With more legislators voicing their support every day, 2024 should be the year that universal education freedom becomes a reality in the Show-Me state.
“For too long, Missouri has prioritized systems over children,” said AFP-MO State Director Jeremy Cady. “This year, we have a chance to provide our students with access to an education that best meets their specific needs. Children are our future. The status-quo in our school system is a non-starter.”
