“As the 2022 session concludes, our activists set high expectations for the interim legislative session and the session coming in 2023.”
Louisville, KY— Americans for Prosperity-Kentucky (AFP-KY) today issued a statement commending the Kentucky General Assembly for its hard work and principled leadership as the 2022 Legislative Session wrapped up last week.
Crucial actions include overriding the Governor’s veto of the Charter School Bill (HB 9), which provides a funding mechanism for charter schools, and passage of the bipartisan Uniform Public Expression Protection Act (HB 222) to allow judges to dismiss frivolous lawsuits designed to punish people for exercising their right to free speech.
Significant progress in tax reform was also made with the passage of HB 8, which will lower the tax burden on Kentuckians and move the state in a more competitive direction for the future.
AFP-KY State Director Michael Conway issued the following statement:
“Our champions in the Legislature stood strong and rejected attempts by special interests to raise the tax burden on hardworking Kentucky families. Principled leaders also joined the fight this session to provide freedom for children and families to build a bright future.
“As the 2022 session concludes, our activists set high expectations for the interim legislative session and the session coming in 2023. Criminal justice reform, educational freedom, and ensuring economic opportunity will be the guiding priorities and foundation for transformational change in the Commonwealth next year. Our activists are excited to see the legislative opportunities to come.”
