New Hampshire Ranks First in the Nation in Cato Institute’s Freedom in the 50 States Report
Manchester, New Hampshire—Today the Cato Institute unveiled its annual report on Freedom in the 50 States. New Hampshire ranks number 1 in the country in overall freedom.
Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire State Director Greg Moore issued the following statement celebrating the Granite State’s continued progress in advancing personal freedom:
“It’s no surprise that New Hampshire once again tops Cato’s Freedom Index. New Hampshire stands as a beacon for liberty nationally and in the Northeast particularly. New Hampshire routinely elects principled policy champions who defend personal freedom and liberty, while reducing the size and cost of government.
“Just this past year, New Hampshire phased out the interest and dividends tax, eliminating the last income tax in the state. This year, we also expanded the incredibly popular education freedom accounts to include more New Hampshire students. The legislature also restored property rights through the creation of the land-use docket in superior court. AFP-NH is proud of the progress our activists and policy champions have made in advancing the New Hampshire Advantage.”
