LINCOLN, NE – Today, at the beginning of National School Choice Week, Americans for Prosperity – Nebraska (AFP-NE) calls for the Nebraska legislature to continue fighting for educational freedom for families, amid opposition to a ballot initiative aimed at repealing the state’s new tax credit scholarship program.
As the parental empowerment movement makes strides across the nation, AFP-NE hopes that Nebraska will continue producing reforms that help families.
AFP-NE State Director John Gage made the following statement:
“Nebraska has made enormous progress in giving families the freedom to choose the education pathways that are most beneficial to their children, and AFP-NE will help to continue the fight. Now is not the time to slow down. Building on the success of the Opportunity Scholarships Act last year, the state legislature should consider even more programs – like Education Savings Accounts – to ensure that Nebraska is not just the best place to live, but the best place to learn.
“We applaud Governor Jim Pillen and State Senator Lou Ann Linehan for their leadership on school choice in the state and look forward to working with lawmakers to advance educational freedom in years to come.”
