Americans for Prosperity Virginia Hires New State Director, C.J. Sailor

Richmond, VA – Today, Americans for Prosperity Virginia announced the hiring of a new State Director, C.J. Sailor. Sailor most recently served as the Outreach and Community Engagement Director for Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin. Prior to that he served as the Black Outreach Director for the Glenn Youngkin for Virginia Governor campaign. Sailor has championed education by serving as Director of Programs and Development for The Gloucester Institute, an educational non-profit which trains and develops the nation’s next generation of African American leaders.

Americans for Prosperity-Virginia State Director C.J. Sailor released the following statement:

“I look forward to hitting the ground running on day 1 and working with our AFP community to bring Virginians together from all walks of life to enact transformational policies that will change lives and give everyone an opportunity to reach their full potential.”

C.J. Sailor is no stranger to the ongoing challenges Virginians face daily. Sailor’s experience in creating change includes serving as Statewide Coalitions Director for the Ed Gillespie for Virginia Governor campaign, where he provided leadership and political strategy for a diverse group of coalitions ranging from business leaders, law enforcement, veterans, educational leaders across a broad and well represented and diverse demographic. Sailor worked tirelessly for the Rand Paul for President campaign, where he was the Southeast Regional Director of Students for Rand. During the campaign, he managed grassroots execution in nine states and oversaw the student volunteer program, coordinated GOTV efforts for 23 Iowa colleges and universities, developed and implemented minority engagement coalitions and managed nine state coordinators and hundreds of volunteers. He also developed the highly publicized Rand Paul Barbershop Chat. Sailor has also advocated loosening free speech restrictions on college and university campuses, by serving as the National Free Speech Director for Young Americans for Liberty (YAL).

Sailor, a Detroit native earned his BA in Political Science from Morehouse College and serves as president of the Richmond, Virginia chapter of the Morehouse College National Alumni Association, is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, serves on the Board of Southside Community Development and Housing Corporation and a member of the National Urban League Metro Richmond affiliate. Sailor is married to Chelsea Sailor, a small business owner and resides in the Richmond area with their daughter Charlie Shane Sailor.
