NASHVILLE — Americans for Prosperity-Tennessee (AFP-TN) State Director Tori Venable released the following statement, after the State Senate voted to shrink the size of the bloated Nashville City Council:
“With today’s vote in the Senate, legislation literally shrinking the size of government heads to the governor’s desk. Nashville’s city council – the third largest in the country – has long been a rubber stamp for liberal mayors looking to recklessly spend taxpayer money. I thank Senator Bo Watson and Representative William Lamberth for their leadership to bring the Nashville city council in line with other peer cities and save taxpayers millions in the years to come.“
On Monday, the State House of Representatives passed a companion bill, HB 48.
