Americans for Prosperity Foundation-AR Celebrates Education Freedom During National School Choice Week

Jan 22, 2024 by AFP

Little Rock, AR—Americans for Prosperity Foundation-Arkansas (AFPF-AR) said National School Choice Week is the perfect time to celebrate opportunities that fit learner’s individual needs while applauding laws such as the LEARNS Act.

This key piece of legislation, which was signed by the Governor last year, maximizes education choices for families by creating an Education Savings Account (ESA) program, expanding statewide open enrollment, and creating new opportunities for families to choose the best option for their children.

AFPF-AR State Director, Ryan Norris, released the following statement:

“I am thrilled to celebrate National School Choice Week, a time to recognize and appreciate the diverse educational options available to Arkansas families. In our great state, parents and students now have the freedom to choose from six distinct education models – each offering unique opportunities for learning and growth.

“As we celebrate this week, let’s embrace the variety and potential of these educational choices, ensuring every Arkansas student has access to an education that best fits their needs and aspirations.”

In Arkansas, families can choose one or multiple of the following education options for their children:

  • Traditional residentially assigned public schools;
  • Innovative charter schools;
  • Public school inter and intra-district transfers;
  • Personalized environments of private schools;
  • Emerging trend of micro-schools; and
  • The tailored approach of homeschooling.

Norris added that each of these models represents a commitment to educational excellence and underscores AFPF-AR’s belief in empowering parents to choose the best educational path for their children.
