Americans for Prosperity-Florida Commends House for Proposed Committee Bill Protecting Taxpayer Dollars

Tallahassee, Fla. – Americans for Prosperity-Florida today issued the following statement after the House Regulatory Reform & Economic Development Subcommittee introduced PCB RRS 23-02, which would transfer the source of VISIT FLORIDA funding from state dollars to local tourist development taxes.

“Florida’s natural environment and many attractions speak for themselves when it comes to marketing Florida as a destination for visitors from around the world. This legislation will allow Visit Florida to be funded by the local government bed tax, so advocates of Visit Florida will now be able to fund it themselves. For far too long the state has funded programs like Visit Florida when not every county and city benefits from it,” said AFP-FL State Director Skylar Zander. “We thank the Regulatory Reform & Economic Development Subcommittee for introducing this important legislation, which will protect Floridians’ hard-earned dollars.”
