Education Savings Account Expansion and Teacher Paycheck Protection will improve education options

NASHVILLE – Americans for Prosperity – Tennessee (AFP-TN) today applauded the State House of Representatives for passing HB 329, the Paycheck Protection Act, and SB 12/HB433, to expand Education Savings Accounts. Both bills have passed the Senate.

HB 329 is part of Governor Bill Lee’s agenda to increase teacher pay and make sure they have paycheck protection from automated deductions. SB 12/HB 433 would expand eligibility for education savings accounts to students in Hamilton and Knox counties.

AFP-TN State Director Tori Venable released the following statement:

“A top priority this year has been to expand educational choice to help more Tennessee parents make the best decisions for their children. By expanding Education Savings Accounts, students in Knoxville and Chattanooga will enjoy more flexibility. Separately, the Paycheck Protection Act will increase teachers salaries and prevent automatic deductions from their paychecks.

“We thank Governor Lee for putting these proposals forward and every member of the legislature who voted to prioritize students and teachers over unions.”
