District of Columbia

  • Washington Gas announced it plans to reduce 1.1 million customer rates in DC, Maryland, and Virginia by approximately $34 million starting in 2018.
  • Pepco announced it will provide a credit lowering customer bills starting in the first quarter of 2018.

Florida

  • Harris Corporation announced it will contribute an additional $300 million to its employee pension fund in addition to giving its 17,000 non-executive employees stock awards of $1,470, or approximately $24 million in total. The company also plans to invest $20 million in technologies.
  • Darden Restaurants announced it will spend an additional $20 million on over 175,000 employees this year.

  • St. John Properties Inc. announced $1,500 bonuses for its employees.
  • Sinclair Broadcast Group announced $1,000 bonuses for 9,000 employees.
  • Lockheed Martin announced it will spend $200 million on research and development and put additional funds into capital expenditures, employee training, and charitable contributions.

Massachusetts

  • Eversource Energy announced it will lower its existing electricity rates for its customers in eastern Massachusetts by $35.4 million and $16.6 million for customers in western Massachusetts.
  • Berkshire Hills announced 1,000 employees will receive a $1,000 bonus in addition to increasing the base wage to $15 per hour. The company also plans to increase investment in employee development and contribute $2 million to the company’s charitable foundation that will be invested in the community.
  • Thermo Fischer Scientific Inc. announced it will make additional investments totaling $50 million. 68,000 non-executive employees will receive a $500 bonus in addition to $16 million going toward research and development.

South Dakota

  • Great Western Bancorp, Inc. announced it will raise its minimum wage to $15, a $500 bonus or wage increase for 70% of its workforce. Tennessee

  • FedEx announced it will increase compensation of over $200 million, 2/3rds of which will go to hourly employees in addition to a $1.5 billion contribution to the FedEx pension plan. FedEx also announced it will invest $1.5 billion to expand and modernize the Indianapolis and Memphis plants.
  • First Horizon National Corp. announced 4,000 employees will receive a $1,000 bonus.
