Jan 4, 2024 by AFP

CHARLESTON, W.Va.—Americans for Prosperity West Virginia (AFP-WV) released, today, an update to the group’s 2023-2024 Pathway to Prosperity Legislative Agenda. Coming off several crucial policy victories last year, the update reflects the key reforms still necessary to help West Virginia expand freedom and opportunity for all Mountaineers. Since 2018, AFP-WV has released its Pathway to Prosperity Legislative Agenda to represent a bold roadmap for principled lawmakers seeking to rapidly transform the Mountain State through proven reforms.

“Last year, principled leaders united to enact transformational policy changes,” State Director Jason Huffman said. “From passing historic tax cuts to defending free speech for student journalists, policymakers took bold steps towards making the Mountain State a better place to live, work, and raise a family. As the legislative session approaches, we look forward to partnering with lawmakers to continue advancing key reforms that are proven to help people thrive.”

AFP-WV Top Agenda Items:

  • Adopt comprehensive unemployment reform
  • Continue to make government live within its means
  • Remove unnecessary red tape holding folks back from entering professional careers

“This next legislative session will serve as a capstone to eight years of accomplishments under Governor Jim Justice and republican majorities. Future legislatures and the next governor will have unprecedented momentum to continue to build on these successes by enacting more transformational policies,” said Deputy State Director Crescent Gallagher. “We must continue to double down on adopting common-sense solutions to tackle the state’s biggest problems. Our goal should not be to catch up to what other states have done but, instead, rapidly adopt policies that we know help people to better live their version of the American Dream.”
