AFP: ‘Unacceptable’ that Congress Continues to Fail to Select Speaker

ARLINGTON, VA—Americans for Prosperity’s Chief Government Affairs Officer Brent Gardner made the following statement today:

“The House of Representatives has been without a Speaker and unable to do its work for 21 days. It’s unacceptable that lawmakers continue to fail to select a leader when our country’s challenges are so great and the need for leadership is so dire. Americans are being crushed by the failed policies of the Biden Administration, and the longer this continues the more it seems like Republicans are not capable of offering the serious alternative Americans deserve. If House Republicans wanted to recapture the minority, this is the way to do it.

“Americans are counting on their representatives to find real solutions to fix our out-of-control debt, stop Biden’s border crisis, and lower the high cost of gas and groceries. We urge House Republicans to come together and select a Speaker this week, restore Americans’ confidence in their leadership, and get back to the business of the people they were elected to serve.”
