Grassroots group urges Granite Staters to reject business tax hikes

CONCORD, N.H. – Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH), the state’s leading grassroots advocacy organization for economic freedom, today announced a statewide digital and grassroots campaign urging Granite Staters to oppose former State Senator Molly Kelly’s tax proposal that increases taxes on New Hampshire businesses by 25% and undermines the economic progress New Hampshire has seen since employer tax relief went into effect.

“When Granite Staters are seeing the economic boom as a result of employer tax relief, Molly Kelly is working to impose a massive tax hike on New Hampshire businesses and roll back employer tax relief that has spurred employers to hire more workers than any time in our state’s history. Our workforce is experiencing a 6% higher wage growth than neighboring Massachusetts and tax relief has produced record high revenues for the state’s coffers,” said AFP-NH State Director, Greg Moore. “At a time when our jobs and revenue coffers are booming, it makes no sense to undermine our state’s economic success with this harmful tax proposal. While Molly Kelly may not see what’s driving our economy, Granite Staters know increasing taxes and punishing New Hampshire businesses is not a recipe for continued growth. We are urging New Hampshire residents to let Molly Kelly know that she should drop this destructive scheme.”

AFP-NH has been the state’s leading grassroots advocate for business tax relief. Starting in 2014, AFP-NH’s sister organization, Americans for Prosperity Foundation, issued a study that raised the issue of New Hampshire’s high business taxes. In 2015, the chapter led efforts to override Governor Hassan’s veto of tax relief.

Businesses tax relief has led to more jobs and resulted in the state receiving record-high revenues.
