AFP Key Vote Alert: Vote “NO” on H.R. 7688

Dear Representative:

On behalf of millions of Americans for Prosperity activists and supporters across the country, I urge you to vote NO on H.R. 7688, the so-called Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act. This vote will be recorded in our 2022 legislative scorecard.

American families continue to struggle with the rising costs at the gas pump, to heat their home and at the grocery store. The policies of this administration have put affordable energy further out of reach and put our country at a global disadvantage.

It is shocking that Congress would consider doubling down on the same misguided policies that led to these crises and enact tried-and-failed government price controls such as those found in this unserious proposal. Congress should instead focus on real solutions that would provide relief for Americans including reducing regulations and reforming the counterproductive energy policies that got us to this point.

According to a new poll conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, an overwhelming 88 percent of Americans agree that making it easier to develop and produce domestic energy would be an effective way to reduce inflation.

AFP urges lawmakers to listen to their constituents and work to put America on a different path – one that empowers Americans, unleashes our vast energy resources, and ensures foreign countries will never be able to use energy as a wedge to hurt our country and our people.

For these reasons we ask you to vote NO on H.R. 7688. This vote will be recorded in our 2022 legislative scorecard.
