Senate Education Committee May Take Up Measure in Coming Weeks

FRANKFORT, KY – As National School Choice Week begins, Americans for Prosperity-Kentucky activists called upon lawmakers to support a sweeping scholarship tax credit bill that will provide Kentucky students, particularly those from lower and middle income families, with more educational freedom and choice.

Americans for Prosperity Deputy State Director Timothy Gilliam made the following statement:

“Kentucky’s education status quo is unacceptable. Because Kentucky has no private education choice program, too many of our students have been allowed to fall behind their peers in other states. This commonsense reform legislation will open new doors of education opportunity to students from lower and middle income families, as well as those with developmental disabilities. That means more Kentucky students will be able to access a quality education that will allow them to compete for good-paying jobs. We encourage all lawmakers to support this measure and believe its passage will set the stage for future additional education reforms.”
