Arlington, Va. – Americans for Prosperity issued a statement today regarding the Senate’s failure to meet the government funding deadline and called on members of Congress to commit to following regular order in the federal budget process.
AFP Chief Government Affairs Officer Brent Gardner issued the following statement:
“For too long, Congress abdicated its obligation to fund the government at responsible levels and to provide the oversight and scrutiny of government programs that are all too often used as bargaining chips in last minute budget deals. The American people deserve better from their elected leaders. Congress should take a hard look at how it got to where it is today and make a commitment to regular order in federal the budget process. Only then will they be able to say they are doing the people’s work.”
