AFP Celebrates Enactment of New Emerging Technologies Law in Virginia

Richmond, Va. – Americans for Prosperity-Virginia issued the following statement after Governor Northam officially signed HB 742, a bill introduced by Delegate Bulova, into state law. The bill allows for local regulation of emerging technologies such as unmanned aerial systems, enabling them to be operated within appropriate guidelines.

AFP-VA State Director JC Hernandez issued the following statement:

“A willingness to embrace innovation improves people’s lives. HB 742 paves the way for the advancement of new technologies, like delivery drones, that will put our state on the cutting edge of commerce. This bill takes into consideration the need for basic safety regulations while allowing Virginia to work with new technology that can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. We applaud the Governor and those who led the way on this effort in the legislature for advancing this forward-thinking policy.”
