COLUMBUS, OH — Americans for Prosperity–Ohio (AFP-OH) is applauding members of the Ohio General Assembly for scheduling a session on July 21 to override several of Governor Mike DeWine’s vetoes in House Bill 96, including key reforms aimed at delivering relief and accountability to property taxpayers across the state.

Governor DeWine’s vetoes struck down provisions that would have tackled the structural drivers of rising property taxes. These reforms were designed to limit unvoted tax increases, cap excessive school district reserves, and ensure voters have clear and transparent information at the ballot box.

AFP-OH State Director Donovan O’Neil released the following statement:

“The legislature’s decision to return and override these vetoes shows a commitment to putting Ohio taxpayers first.

“These commonsense reforms were crafted to stop the unchecked growth of property taxes and restore a stronger voice for voters. Lawmakers are doing the right thing by fighting to get them back on the books.”

AFP-OH has been actively mobilizing grassroots activists across the state to urge lawmakers to stand firm in defense of the Buckeye Blueprint’s bold reforms. Reinstating these provisions would mark a major step toward more sustainable, transparent, and accountable tax policy in Ohio.

AFP-OH urges both chambers to follow through on July 21 and complete the job for Ohio families and homeowners.
