AFP-OK Celebrates Signing of Food Truck Freedom Bill

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Oklahoma (AFP-OK) celebrated the enactment of the Food Truck Freedom Act (HB1076), marking a major victory for Oklahoma’s entrepreneurs during National Small Business Week.

The act gives food trucks the freedom to operate across Oklahoma with a single state license, streamlining the duplicative applications and fees that had previously discouraged them from serving new communities. AFP-OK worked alongside lawmakers to draft and lead efforts in support of HB1076.

AFP-OK Director of Grassroots Operations Michael Morrison gave the following statement:

“This victory shows that with committed grassroots activism and principled lawmakers in office Oklahomans can overcome the burdensome regulations that make starting and operating a business more expensive.

“AFP-OK congratulates our policy champions Senator Christi Gillespie and Representative Derrick Hildebrant on their first bill being signed into law.”

Sen. Christi Gillespie gave the following statement:

“The signing of the Food Truck Freedom Act is a big win for small business owners and entrepreneurs across Oklahoma.

“Food trucks bring jobs, creativity, and economic growth to our communities. This law cuts unnecessary red tape and makes it easier for these businesses to operate, thrive, and serve Oklahomans wherever they go.”

Rep. Derrick Hildebrant gave the following statement:

“This legislation is a commonsense fix that helps entrepreneurs thrive while ensuring cities get their fair share. It’s a win-win for small business and local government.”

Background:

AFP-OK hosted a food truck lunch with lawmakers and staff in front of the state capitol building last month to raise support and awareness for the bill.
