Wisconsin Needs to Get the Straight Facts about Budget Reform
They said the sky would fall, but the sky is still there. Americans for Prosperity Foundation and the John K MacIver Institute invite you to the first Its Working Wisconsin Town Hall. Its Working, is a broad-base educational effort that uses multimedia tools to deliver the facts on budget reforms to citizens.
Please join us along with Joint Finance Co-Chair Representative Robin Vos, Waukesha County Executive Dan Vrakas, Tim Nerenz and other local officials, as they explain how taxpayers saved hundreds of millions in the state of Wisconsin through budget reform. You will also have an opportunity to get some of your questions answered during our Q & A panel. Invited guests include Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke.
"Americans for Prosperity recently sent to our members letters for absentee ballot applications. The date on the ballot application was meant solely for the elections held on August 16th. Due to a mistake during printing, all applications were sent out with the August 11th date.
Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin did not intend to print the incorrect absentee deadline or confuse voters in any way. Our goal was to provide voters with the opportunity to vote by way of absentee and to increase voter turnout in these important recall elections. AFP-Wisconsin is directly addressing this mistake by sending out a call to each and every individual on the mailing list to clarify the date of the elections.
I encourage all Wisconsin citizens to make their voices heard and vote in the State Senate Recall elections. It is their government, and they have a stake in it.
As the debt ceiling debate continues, politicians in Washington should look at the crisis as an opportunity to change our path. Leaders should reject the unsustainable deficit spending and ever-growing federal budgets that brought about this problem in the first place. Instead, we should embrace a sustainable fiscal path that cuts government spending and gives priority to hard working American families.
Unfortunately, however, President Obama so far has chosen exactly the opposite path. In budget negotiations, the President has insisted that a debt ceiling resolution include at least $1 trillion in new taxes. This is the wrong medicine in todays environment.
The road to economic freedom starts here.
Join a network of AFP activists in important issue battles across the country, get the inside scoop with breaking news updates and policy alerts, and be the first to hear about special events near your home.
