The free market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity (AFP) today released the following statement regarding Senator Pat Toomeys (R-Pa.) inclusion on the deficit reduction super committee established during the debt ceiling negotiations.
AFP President Tim Phillips:
This so-called Super Committee is, simply put, a bad idea. Americans have seen this before -- a small group of powerbrokers with outsized authority operating in secret to cut a last minute deal that is then sprung on the American people. AFP calls on the committee to conduct all of its proceedings live on C-SPAN so that the American people can see what the committee is doing and what they are proposing as it happens.
