Letter of Support: Reining In EPA and Army Corps “Wetlands” Regulators

In recent years, however, the EPA and the Army Corps have attempted to expand their jurisdiction to impose stringent new regulations on isolated wetlands, ephemeral streams, farm runoff and drainage, and other “waters” in the U.S. that are arguably not at all connected to navigable waters nor interstate commerce. Letter of Support: Midnight Rule Relief Act, S. 2368 and H.R. 4607

April 30, 2012 J

Dear Senator Johnson and Representative Ribble,

On behalf of more than two million Americans for Prosperity activists in all 50 states, I applaud you for introducing the Midnight Rule Relief Act, S. 2368 and H.R. 4607 respectively. Your bills would prevent an outgoing administration from issuing any new significant regulations during a “lame-duck” session, eliminating a great source of uncertainty for American businesses.

Democrats Abdicate Responsibility with REINS Vote

December 08, 2011 J

Americans for Prosperity issued the following statement today in response to the House vote on the REINS Act:

“We commend the work of Rep. Geoff Davis and the Republican leadership for passing this critical reform to restore accountability and constitutional balance to the federal regulatory process,” said AFP VP Policy Phil Kerpen. “This is a major victory for the American people and we urge the Senate to take up and pass this bill as soon possible.”

The House voted 241-184 to pass H.R. 10, the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act (REINS) Act. Republicans unanimously supported the bill, which requires Congress to vote on economically significant regulations before they can take effect. Democrats overwhelmingly opposed the bill, with 184 voting against it and only four voting for it.
