The problem is that semantics are never a small order. When the meanings of words are corrupted, confusion spreads because power is achieved more expeditiously by those who control the power of the meaning of words. Words are the currency in the marketplace of the mind.

I often walk away from conversations with the willfully detached who dismiss politics as “dirty business” or “beneath them” with a bit of wincing irony. Truthfully, everyone engages in politics everyday. What is politics if not the process by which communities make collective decisions? What is government but the application of the best practices for managing human relationships, given our understanding of human nature and the incentives that motivate us?
