April 02, 2012 J

News Release

Americans for Prosperity Foundation – Connecticut (AFPF-CT) is releasing today its “Keeping Connecticut Competitive” booklet, which highlights the poor condition of the state's economy. The booklet finds that Connecticut has one of the highest fiscal burdens in the nation and one of the lowest records of job creation.

“Governor Malloy and the state legislature keep trying to fix our broken economy by raising taxes to pay for ever-increasing government spending,” said JR Romano, State Director of AFPF-CT.
“However, the facts cited in this booklet show that Connecticut is not doing a good job of spending its way to prosperity.”

AFP-CT State Director JR Romano Testifies Against Forced Small Business Unionization

March 13, 2012 J

Hartford CT- Americans for Prosperity-Connecticut (AFP-CT) State Director, JR Romano, will testify today on two executive orders issued by Governor Malloy last fall impacting child care workers and home care attendants in state funded programs.

"It is unfortunate that Governor Malloy has chosen to put politics before people once again by forcing unionization upon small business owners in this state who are charged with the care of our children and elderly populations,” said JR Romano, State Director AFP-CT. “While I am sure that the SEIU is pleased with these orders providing them with additional members and their dues, what about the PCAs and child care workers and the people they care for?”

A lawsuit alleging that Governor Malloy overstepped his executive branch authorities in issuing Executive Orders 9 and 10 is pending.

AFP-CT State Director JR Romano Testifies Against Unfunded Education Mandate

March 05, 2012 J

Hartford CT- Americans for Prosperity-Connecticut (AFP-CT) State Director, JR Romano, will testify today on proposed legislation which would require labor history in the public school curriculum. Romano’s testimony raises several key questions regarding the specifics of the proposed measure.

“With local school budgets already stretched to the max, it is odd that the state of Connecticut would find it necessary to pass specific legislation regarding a subject that is already covered in public school curriculums,” said JR Romano, State Director AFP-CT.

AFP-CT: GOVERNOR MALLOY IS UNCLEAR ABOUT THE STATE OF OUR STATE

February 08, 2012 J

Hartford CT- Today Americans for Prosperity-Connecticut (AFP-CT) responded to Governor Malloy’s State of the State Address.

“After listening to the Governor’s State of the State address today, I am concerned that the Governor does not understand the current state in which we find ourselves,” said JR Romano, State Director AFP-CT. “His delivery of a speech full of empty accomplishments and lofty goals for the future demonstrates that he either doesn’t understand the state we are currently in or doesn’t know how to turn things around or both.”

Governor Malloy’s State of the State address today marks the opening day of the legislative session.
