AFP-KY Applauds Senate Appropriations & Revenue Committee for Rejecting Overspending

FRANKFORT, KY—Americans for Prosperity-Kentucky (AFP-KY) today applauded the Senate Appropriations and Revenue Committee for successfully stripping HB 268 of elements that could lead to additional overspending in a non-budget year. HB 268 originally included an add of $150 million to the commonwealth’s debt for the purpose of fixing up parks in Kentucky.

AFP-KY State Director Andrew McNeill issued the following statement:

“The Senate took an important step today to rein in Kentucky’s overspending problem. Taking on $150 million in new debt while the state is drowning in billions of unfunded liabilities would place an unfair burden on hardworking Kentuckians. AFP-KY commends Chairman Chris McDaniel and the Senate for their fiscal discipline during this year’s short session.”
