COLUMBUS, OH – Yesterday, Americans for Prosperity–Ohio (AFP-OH) hosted U.S. Senator Jon Husted for a tele-town hall on Monday to discuss the ongoing federal government shutdown and its impact on Ohio families and small businesses.
During the discussion, Sen. Husted and AFP-OH highlighted how political gridlock in Washington is hurting hardworking Ohioans and called for commonsense solutions to reopen the government and prevent future shutdowns.
“Democrats in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives are playing political games at the expense of hardworking Ohio families,” said Sen. Husted. “It’s time to reopen the government and put in place real reforms that keep it open. Fiscal responsibility and accountability should not be partisan. It’s common sense, and Ohioans deserve nothing less.”
“This shutdown is a direct result of Senate Democrats playing politics with people’s livelihoods,” said Donovan O’Neil, AFP-OH State Director. “Ohio families deserve better than partisan games that put paychecks, businesses, and essential services at risk. It’s time for Democrats to put politics aside, pass a clean funding bill, and get the government back to work for the people.”

AFP supports the Prevent Government Shutdowns Act, a bill that would require Congress to remain in session until it passes the bills necessary to fund the government, ensuring stability in the government and eliminating shutdowns as a political weapon.
